As part of our American road trip I booked a variety of locations for us to stay; including hotels, motels, cabins, airbnb’s a tiny house and a night of glamping. We’d never been glamping before but our night at Under Canvas ended up being our favorite part of the trip.
Under Canvas is a glamping chain with locations near eight national parks. We opted for the Grand Canyon park because the climate in September was still really suitable for glamping. We also loved the idea of waking up with red sand all around us. I did my research, both on Instagram and on the website but upon arrival my expectations were immediately exceeded.

Every under canvas location has one main tent, where all the guest can come together and hang out. The decor of the tent was beautiful and there was so much to do; there were books with reading nooks, games both indoor and outdoor, a restaurant, a coffee station, picknick benches, a little shop and an information station. At night there was also a campfire with a free ‘s mores station, what more could you ask for? The only things that were not present were technology related; wifi and outlets, but we enjoyed the digital detox.

The tents were amazing. They were fully equipped with a king size bed (with plenty of blankets to keep you warm), a private fireplace, an outdoor seating area, power banks to charge your mobile devices and a bathroom. There was even warm water in the shower! We initially booked the most simple tent (with shared bathroom), but we got a free upgrade due to a booking mistake.

We spend our night grilling burgers, talking with other travellers and stargazing at the campfire, what more could you want?
I don’t usually write a complete blog post about a place where I only spend one night but I just had to share this little gem. I can highly recommend Under Canvas Grand Canyon and would love to stay there again or try out any of the other locations.

Have you gone glamping before? And if yes, did you like it?
Love, Meryl
