It’s been over a year since I gave you a tour of one of the rooms in our apartment. You know how it goes; things just never feel finished. But we are actively house hunting at the moment, so it was about time to share my second tour; a bedroom tour.

Our bedroom is small (around 12 m2) but cozy, due to the wooden beams and the big old window. We found it important to make our bedroom feel relaxing and calm. To make the space work for both my boyfriend and I we went for a very neutral theme. Beside the grey bed, we opted for all white furniture to keep the space looking as big and bright as possible. Houses in the Netherlands usually don’t have build in wardrobes, so the Ikea Pax wardrobe is everyone’s best friend. We went for the corner Pax wardrobe and a separate Ikea Hemnes dresser, to store most of our clothing. I changed the knobs to matching gold ones, to give them a more expensive feel.
We did not have space for nightstands but the brass floor lamp, is the perfect reading light solution. I like to invest in nice bedding because comfort is an essential. That’s why we opted for this washed cotton set by H&M Home. The throw pillows are also H&M Home and the throw is a traditional Moroccan throw, which was our latest addition from the Souks. They add detail to the room without being too overpowering.

When it came to the accessories I wanted to keep things simpel but useful, because we use the bedroom to store most of our stuff. On the dresser we have some personal items like books and pictures. This is also the place where we have a beautiful brass tray, which houses both of our perfumes. I also tried to make my make up, our watches & jewelry storage as beautiful as possible by using these brass and glass trays. The big round mirror we hung above the dresser is stunning and makes the room look bigger. We are big plant lovers so we also have some green friends in our bedroom.
My boyfriend has most of the closet space, giving me the opportunity to have a separate clothing rail with my seasonal capsule wardrobe. I love clothing rails in a bedroom. The clothes give the room a pop of colour and it just makes jou enjoy the items more when they are in view. It also forces you to keep the clothing area nice and neat, when it’s on display. I do have to admit that I would like a nicer looking clothing rail but that will be something for our next house.

I hope you enjoyed this bedroom tour! If you want to see more of our apartment make sure to check out our kitchen tour.
Love, Meryl
